, You asked an interesting question about my neighbors. Yes, during power outages I expect to be their favorite neighbor. I realized that I have more capacity (16kW) than I likely will need, so I have dedicated 20-amp electrical outlets on both sides of the house. A heavy duty 20-amp extension cord to each of my next door neighbors will keep their refrigerators and a few other things alive. (You can see one of the outlets in the video clip I sent earlier.) The generator is someone noisy, so this should appease any 'bad-neighbor' feeling that I have otherwise acquired 🙂

I think the outages are political somehow.

Good to know you have it covered, . Are you everyone's favorite neighbor yet? =F0=9F=99=82

We're ready here. In the past year we had two power outages that lasted about 30 hours each. There is speculation that these outages may continue for about 10 more years with PG&E.

I installed a whole-house generator a few months ago. See attached video clip. It starts automatically when power is interrupted, and shuts down when it senses restoration. It runs on natural gas, so no fuel storage.

Today it was forecast to be about 110 in Sacramento. But we just got back from a walk / run and with the clouds (which may be smoke) it seems we won't be nearly that hot today.

It may be the last day of the summer season for swimming.
