Both have been considered as having value for thousands of years. Both also have industrial value.

I'd accept either in a trade for things I have to offer.

Once the USD goes all digital and currency is cancelled, using that stuff would be like using any other defunct currency from any country in the past.

I could buy property in gold as long as the seller also thinks gold has a certain value. And that's why it's being bought up like crazy. People tend to agree on it's value.

Oh?

So, what value do silver or gold have for you? If you have it, what can you do with it?

What has value to pretty much everybody is iron, which can be made to steel. It's so common, though, that nobody is going to carry around much to buy anything with. Some say diamonds have value, but for me. They can be manufactured and it's only because the jews kontrol their output that they aren't devalued.

Well, I personally wouldn't think fake money is something I would accept for anything that has real value.

But that coin must have intrinsic value.

to have an alternate financial system, there has to be a way to buy/sell things. paper "money" wears out and might be suspected as counterfeit when it's old

Still purely a fiat currency. If they call in all dollars and then ban all cash, only silver, gold or barter items would hold any real value. Coinage from a fiat currency would not have value except as collectibles.

Subject:

if (when) they go to digital kontrol of money, I'm sure there will be an alternate money system by the many who don't want to be kontrolled, especially since some only work for cash and so many have so many dollar s.

Anyhow, if the gov't stops printing money and calls in all cash, I figure not everybody will turn it in.

Since fewer dollar s out there won't be replaced, they'll be worn out and maybe there will be a lot of counterfeiting. I got notion that an alternate for that would be to have dollar coins. I got a bunch some years back and today started to get more. It's no gambling since they're worth a dollar but some are clueless about them being real. They won't wear out, though.
