Well, I finally had my epidural steroid injection that I seem to need every 3 or 4 years for my bulging/ ruptured/ herniated disc (between L4 and L5, for you medics out there). I just got the shot yesterday at the Pain Management Group in Antioch. I'm already feeling better, although they say officially that the steroids won't kick in for 3-4 days.

The procedure only takes five minutes, but it's always worked for me, luckily, so I'm not going to question it. The shot itself (actually two or three, but those first two might have been the numbing pain meds), hurt like a son of a bitch. Pardon my language, but that's the best way to explain it. It's a creepy feeling as the liquid works its way down to your toes (at least that's what it felt like), because you instinctively know that you shouldn't be feeling anything crawling around inside you that close to the spinal cord.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be good as new in a couple days. For one, I need to finish my backyard fence. While I've been incapacitated, the neighbor had some professionals put up a fence in three days: one to plant the posts, one for the posts to set, and one to put up the rest of fence. My wife, Tara, asked jokingly, “Why can't you do it that fast?” Naturally, I told her to bite me. 🙂

I've also got to try and salvage my vegatable garden that's been taken over by grass in my absence. I also wanted to plant a lot more plants, but now I don't know if I can find them at the store.

And last but not least, I'd like to stop taking these painkillers, hydrocodone and cyclobenzaprine, before I get addicted. Besides, they make me kind of stupid and lazy; and it came at the worst time for work because they want me to upgrade a crucial system before the end of the month, and I'm way behind schedule because of the back problems and the drugs.
